The Island of Mykonos is known as the Greek Saint Tropez. It is a magnificent island with white houses with blue shutters and flowers, with picturesque streets, windmills, with a lot of churches and cafes and superb restaurants.

Mykonos is one of the most beautiful and typical Greek islands which knew how to preserve natural and historical heritage despite of the influx of tourists. It is famous in the world due to its unique Cycladic architecture, gorgeous beaches with fine sand, ideal shopping possibilities, restaurants, cosmopolitan life style and extremely intense nightlife. Architectural tourist attractions

Going to the west, you will reach a plateau where you can see the famous windmills. It is one of the places with the most interesting view on the Mykonos Island. In the area lies the Alefkandra neighborhood known as the “Little Venice” with the Paraportiani Church and the Kastro Castle along the west part of the city also worth visiting.

Ano Mera and Tinos

Ano Mera is a small, nice and calm village, you can admire here the monastery and the small museum of the church. You can also visit the beautiful neighboring island, Tinos, the sacred island of the modern Greece.

The beaches of the Mykonos Island

On the Mykonos Island you will find many beaches, dive sites even areas for riding. Daily excursions are organized towards different beaches – Delos and Naxos. A morning walk on the pristine streets of Mykonos is an unforgettable experience. Drink coffee in the Little Venice and take a picture of the wonderful Parapotiani church.

The beaches are often overcrowded. The small bays in the southern part pf the Mykonos Island worth a visit. Plati Gialos and Elia are two very popular beaches. The famous beaches of Parga, Paradise and Super Paradise can be accessed via boat leaving from Plati Gialos. In the north, you will find the beach of Agios Stefanos and Kalafatis, ideal for surfing. Ormos, Agios Giannis, Agrari are some of the beaches that have made Mykonos the most visited island of Greece!

Having fun in the Island of Mykonos

Most of the clubs and bars are located in Chora. Throughout the summer beach parties are organized as well. On the island you will find many Greek and international restaurants. Most of them are located in Chora, the capital. The folk shops are extremely numerous on the  Island of Mykonos. You may purchase here clothes, ceramics, textiles, and even antiques.


There are lots of bus lines and places where you can rent bikes. It is also fairly easy to find here taxis or boats that can carry you to various beaches. The Mykonos Island has its own airport. There are some ferry links here to Piraeus Port in Athens or Rafina and other Cycladian islands.
