The capital of Rhodes

The capital of the island is also called Rhodes and is magnificent. The objectives that should not be missed there include: the three windmills, the Palace of the Prefecture, the Elephterias, the Nea Agora and the Aquarium Square. The famous Colossus of Rhodes, played by the ancient aeds was also here. The main attraction of the old town of the capital that has 11 entrance gates and the Acropolis of Rhodes and the ruins of the temples of Zeus, Apollo and Athena worth a visit as well. The Grand Masters Palace is an architectural marvel, being a palace and a fortress in the same time that dominates the old town. The entrance is monumental because of his court with imposing arches.

Famous beaches of Rhodes

The sandy golden beach of Afandou is located at 22 km from the capital of the Island of Rhodes and stretches on many kilometers. It is a very clean and calm beach. The Tsambika beach is a nice sandy beach, framed by cliffs with strange shapes. It is especially appreciated by the residents but also by tourists in search of tranquility, away from mass tourism. Famous for its thermal waters, Kalithea is a fine sandy beach with emerald water and it is bordered by palm and pine trees. Situated at 38 km on the south-east of the island, near the Haraki beach and the medieval castle of Feraklos, Agathi with its beautiful golden sandy beach and emerald water is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. It is a pristine and calm beach. Faliraki is the most developed and cosmopolitan resort of the island. The beach streches on 4 km and has golden sand. You can practice various water sports here skiing, surfing.
