The Smugglers Cove

One of the attractions of the island is the wreck of a Scottish ship, Panagiotis, which failed on the shores of the Ionian Sea waters in 1980. The Navagio Beach is one of the most beautiful and spectacular places in Greece, the photos taken here often used to represent the whole Island of Zakynthos.

The Smugglers Cove in Zakynthos is surrounded by great limestone rocks, is small and the water is very clear, but cold. The best times to visit the cove are May and September, when the number of tourists is lower and this crowded beach is not very disturbed.

The bay is very small, it can host 3 vessels simultaneously, therefor sometimes requires patience for a cruise ship to get there because of the numerous tourists.

Tourists have the opportunity to sit at the beach, to walk and to climb the vessel in the beachfront. For those who arrive by car, it is possible to reach close to the rocks that are around the beach, at about 300 feet from where the view is quite spectacular, the sky, the sea and the earth are united into a whole perfect paradise in this dream region – Navagio.
