When you visit the Island of Santorini, remember that you necessarily need to put in your luggage a swimsuit, sun cream, sunglasses and possibly a hat. Why? Because the beaches here are absolutely wonderful and must be tested.

White, red, gray or black –  the sand is very varied on the beaches of Santorini, Greece. It is a real pleasure siting in the sun while getting a tan near the crystal clear blue water, occasionally decorated with red volcanic rocks. Most of the beaches of Santorini are known throughout Europe for their interesting and unique black sand. The beaches are divided into two areas: southern beaches and eastern beaches.

The popular Beach of Kamari

The Beach of Kamari in Santorini is located in the east. This is one of the most beautiful and probably one of the most popular beaches of Santorini for tourists. The beach was rebuilt after the earthquake that took place in the year 1956. Nearby you will find numerous hotels, restaurants and terraces for all tastes and any budget. On the Beach of Kamari is annually organized the Jazz Festival. It is an interesting event and a famous attraction.

The picturesque Beach of Perissa

The Beach of Perissa is and other famous beach of the Island of Santorini. It is one of the most guarded beaches of the island. What makes it unique is the fact that here are very gently-sloping winds. Right near the beach are the Profitis Ilias Mountains, so besides of the great weather you can spend your time in an absolutely wonderful scenery, where the sea blends with the mountains.

On the Perissa beach are available a wide variety of water sports including water skiing and windsurfing, therefor this being one of the most popular beaches on the island of Santorini. The deep blue water and black sand beaches are the main attractions of this island.

The quiet Beach of Monolithos

If you want a less crowded beach, then you should opt for the Beach of Monolithos. It is very quiet and perfect for those who want to relax without too much noise and restlessness.

The red beach of Akrotiri

Not far from the archaeological site of Akrotiri is a red beach with the same name. You can not find a more surprising place for bathing!

The beaches of Santorini are perfect for sports. If you want, you can play volleyball, batmington or sand football. You can also practice water sports in case you are passionate about it. In Santorini you will surely spend a great holiday.
